If Tomorrow Starts Without Me
If tomorrow start without me, and I'm not there to see If the sun should rise and find your eyes all filled with tears for me; I wish so much you wouldn't cry the way you did today While thinking of the many things we didn't get to say. I know how much you love me, I know you 'll miss me too;But when tomorrow starts without me, please try to understand,That an angel came and called my name, and took me by the hand. And said y place was ready in heaven far above, and that I'd have to leave behind all those I dearly love. But as I turned to walk away, a tear fell from my eye for all my life, I'd always though, I didn't want to die.I had so much to live for, so much left yet to do,, it seemed almost impossible, that I was leaving you. I thought of all the yesterdays, the good ones and the bad. I thought of all the love we shared, and all the fun we had. If I could relive yesterday, just even for a while, I'd say good-bye and kiss you, and maybe see you smile. But then I fully realized that this could never be, for emptiness and memories would take the place of me.And when I thought of wordly things, I might miss come tomorrow,I thought of you, and when I did, my heart was filled with sorrow. But when I walked through heaven's gates, I felt so much at home, when GOD looked down and smiled at me from His great golden throne, He said,"This is eternity, and all I've promised you; Today your life on earth is past, but here life starts anew. I promise no tomorrow, but today will always last, and since each day's the same, there's no longing for the past. You have been so faithful, so trusting and true, though there were times you did some things you knew you shouldn't do.But you have been forgiven and ow at last you're free. So won't you come and take my hand, and share my life with me?" So when tomorrow starts without me, don't think we're far apart, for every time you think of me, I'm right here, in your heart.

Griffis Family,

Our prayers are with you as we all grieve your tremendous loss. Words cannot express how much you have been in our thoughts and prayers over these past several days. We will continue to pray for you! My children have been forever changed as they remained steadfast in their prayers for their teacher, Mr. Griffis. We have all drawn closer to Jesus due to this tragic event. As my young son told me nearly three years ago when my only brother went home to be with Jesus after a year long battle with cancer, "Uncle Tim received the ultimate healing." Mr. Griffis has received the ultimate healing as well. Because of our faith, we do not mourn as those with no hope, we know we will see Mr. Griffis again. All four of our children have had Mr. Griffis as their math teacher. Kori, Kyli, Mikenna & Mitchell want you to know, Mr Griffis made a difference in all the lives he touched. God bless you and comfort you during this difficult time.

As I read through these comments, the legacy John left to his family, co-workers and former students is amazing, but not surprising. What a great husband, father and friend to many. Legacies are meant to be carried on, as John did from his dad, who has always been a person I have looked up to, and now I know his wife and children will carry on that legacy. I know there are still going to be some tough days ahead, but we serve a great God that will be there to carry you through. Many songs and scripture come to mind, but I know many songs and scripture come to your mind as well, and there is great comfort in those words.
Know that your family will be in our prayers.

Grief still has to be worked through. It is like walking through water. Sometimes there are little waves lapping about my feet. Sometimes there is an enormous breaker that knocks me down. Sometimes there is a sudden and fierce squall. But I know that many waters cannot quench love, neither can the floods drown it. We are not good about admitting grief, we Americans. It is embarrassing. We turn away, afraid that it might happen to us. But it is part of life, and it has to be gone through.
– Madeleine L’Engle

ABBA, my Father...I cry out to You so quietly and reverently today. For this precious family in their time of need. Oh Daddy, how they need Your touch. How they need to feel Your huge, loving arms around them now. Those children, Your children...So hard for them grasp what has happened. Your Will be done, we prayed...How hard it is for us to understand that You needed John with You now. We must stay here and complete that work that You began in him. Please, give Saundra and her children all the strength necessary to carry on and complete that work. We lift our eyes to the Heavens Lord, our help comes from YOU. The maker of all we can see, Heaven and Earth. Rain down, God...Rain Down Your love! Wash away all the pain...all the tears...Rain Down. We humbly ask all these things of You...In Jesus' Most Holy Name ~Amen

I remember seeing John last week out walking his dog, and he looked so happy. It's so weird knowing that he's not with us anymore.I didn't get the chance to get to know him well, but even as my old math teacher he touched my life. He always extended the most help he possibly could, and took the time out of every day to tell us all a joke and to make us all smile. I'm glad I got to spend at least a little of his short time on Earth.

Although I did not know Mr. Griffis personally, my daughter is a 6th grader this year and adored him. My love and prayers go out to his family. I am so sorry for your loss. I will continue to lift your family up in prayer. I pray that you find peace and understanding. Lillie Hernandez

Miss Saundra used to "babysit" our babies on an occasional Friday night, but when we came to pick them up, it was usually John who was holding them and loving every minute. What a great way to remember him! We love you, Saundra, and are so thankful for all the love you and John gave to our girls. It has meant so much to us!
