Jan 18, 2010

I just couldn't wait until later to let you all know about Matthew. This is what I understand. I may understand it wrong...but I think it is good news!

He has to qualify to go to the tournament. Which means that he plays several rounds of golf with the SNU golf team and at the end of those several rounds, the coach will take the 5 (I think) best scorers to the tournament. Remember...I asked you to pray for Matthew this morning.

Well, he scored 77. When he told me I asked him if he was pleased with that. He said he wouldn't be except that he beat most of the other guys. All but two. Now that is pleasing! I was so proud of him. Even prouder when coach told him that he inherited his short game from his dad, who inherited from his dad. Matthew was so proud of that statement. He is excited now.

Then at Isaac's BB game tonight he played awesome! Jeff and Sallye were there with us of course and Jeff started calling him (The Weapon). It cracked me up. He played so well.

So, I said....the Griffis' boys made their dad, not to mention their mom very proud today. They did well.

I was quick to tell Matthew that I had asked for prayer for him and I believe God helped him.

I haven't had my devotions yet...I just wanted to share this. I was so excited.

We were due for some good news. I can smile tonight...and really mean it.

I will try to get on in the morning after devotions.

Pray for a good night sleep. I am not sleeping well.
Pray for my kids.
Pray for peace.

I love you all,
Saundra

That is AWESOME! I'm so excited for Matthew! And for you. :) I was so sad to read your other posts but relieved to read this one. Just remember that God is answering your prayers. It may not all be in the time that you want it to be but He will answer them and take care of you.

Love you,
Donetta

Just wanted to tell you that I love you.

Saunie, I love you so much, and you are in my every thought and prayer. I really do pray without ceasing for you. You are growing so much through your pain. You may not see it where you are, but we see it in your words. I never knew you were so strong! There is such depth to your relationship with the Lord. Don't worry about sharing your feelings. We know there is bedrock underneath you. You do too, it is what moves you forward. And you do have the best part of John, your kids. The highest expression of love there is. They are John, living, breathing, growing, learning, laughing, whispering his love to you. We are cheering you on.

Matthew, I cannot tell you how proud we are of you. Congratulations on your golf game, I can just see that sort of grin on your face when you told your mom, in that quiet voice. You really are growing into a man after God's own heart. A man like your dad. You have his quiet strenght.

Hannah, you looked so pretty in your gown. It was made for you. We have watched you grow in so many ways. Getting back into running was a victory for you and we are all cheering on the sidelines. Your dad did not leave you to run alone. He may not be at the sidelines, but now he is running in step with you. You have his determination, pushing through the pain to finish.

Isaac, we love reading about your games and the way you are giving it your all. Yeh, we love you and pray for you everyday. When I think of you, know what come to mind...baseball hats! You always had one one!! Your dad is cheering you on as well, to go for the goal. you have his quiet determination.

Ray Ray, gotta love your spunk. You have more than your share. You are mom's snuggie! We love seeing your pictures on FB. Yep, I still go to your video and have a good laugh. You have the same sparkle in your eyes like your dad. Like you are just waiting to pull a good one on somebody. you have his spark of laughter

Saundra, I'm really pleased to read this, and know how happy you must be to have had something go right ... something that was important, and to have the prayers answered. I'm sure not every prayer will be answered, every time, exactly the way we want it to be .... but when something like this goes exactly, perfectly right, then it makes me truly happy for you, indeed. :)

I so agree with Donetta and almost started writing similar to her. Your previous post left me without words. I just wanted to say, Saundra, try to stop, take a deep breath and let God begin a work in your family, but I didn't have to...God's always a step or two ahead of us, isn't He!

Yea, for Matthew and his inheritance from his dad!

Still praying for you and your family.

Thanks for the wonderful news.

Saundra,
Isaac had a fantastic game. I high fived him after the game and told him so.

You know I was just thinking that I still dont think I have ever actually met you other than online. I'm not sure I would even know you if I saw you! I knew Coach Griffis and I know Isaac. Anyway, I am usually sitting down at the scorekeepers table during Isaac's games if you ever want to thump me on the back of the head. I'd love to just say hi in person.

:)

Saundra,

So glad to hear the great news. I know God heard your prayers and helped each one of your children in thier respective events this week.

Continue to make your requests known to God, and thank him for his answers. You are his child and a part of the "family of God".

Isn't it wonderful that we can question God, cry out in pain, be angry and he loves us still?

I pray the answers to your prayers helped you get a restful night of sleep.

I've been waiting for a really good day for you and your kids and it has finally happened. Just know these days will come more and more frequently and your lives WILL be better. God works in strange and mysterious ways. We simply need to trust Him (even though that is not always easy) and depend on His love for us all.

Saundra ~
What a bountiful day of blessings shining thru for all of you, particularly Matthew. Congrats!

Sweetie, when we lose someone we love so dearly & closely, we do lash out in anger & questions ... I wrote this piece 'WHY' that I am going to share with you when we lost our little son. How wonderful that your DH goes on giving/living thru another ... what a generous gift of love.

God is with us always, even tho we may not understand all that is happening in our lives ... He never abandons nor gives up ... He holds His comforting arms around us.

~ WHY ~
I questioned 'WHY?!', He continued to listen. I turned a deaf ear, He spoke softly. I struggled & floundered, He continued to hold me up. I closed my eyes, He touched my heart. I looked for answers, He was patient. I begged for strength to endure, He gave me love.(Written by Marydon Ford)

You may write me at my email ~ blushing_rose_boutique@yahoo.com

I'd love to talk with you. I shall lift prayers for you, sweetie.

Saundra, I ran across this and thought I'd pass it on. I needed to read it also.

"God wants you to know ... that faith is exactly what it takes to get through uncertainty.
Faith is not necessary when you know how things are going to work out, - that's knowledge. It's in the time of unknowing that having faith is what sees you through to the other side. Faith is what gives you strength. Faith is that light in your heart that keeps on shining even when it's all darkness outside. Now is the time to keep that faith alive!"

I'm going to print it out, so I can be reminded of it every day.

Still praying for you and the kids.

Congrats to Matthew! That is awesome! He has so much talent. What happened with his golf score and the coaches comment wad God revealing himself. He did listen to your requests and answered. He may not always answer in the way or time we want but He will answer. Don't forget that satan is evil and will use Anything he can to distract us from seeing or hearing God and to shake up our faith! Anything! Even grief! Just tell him to get away and leave you alone! And that you are not listening to him but you are listening to God and you give God control over your thoughts actions emotions. It us hard but just keep believing. Know that we are still here praying for you! Cathy

You survived another wave!!! Now breathe and enjoy the calm for a bit. God is with you through the rudhing waters and the still waters.

"When you pass through the waters, I will be with you, and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. For I am the Lord, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior." Isaiah 43:2-3

Love you,
Eva
